The CEO and president of the Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau has been inducted into the Minnesota Hospitality Hall of Fame.
Bonnie Carlson was inducted to the hall of fame during a Dec. 11 Minnesota Lodging Association ceremony in White Bear Lake. Carlson was chosen in recognition of her 29 years with the Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Minnesota Hospitality Hall of Fame inductees are considered legends of the lodging industry. Carlson’s induction into the hall of fame almost never happened, as she considered studying law at the University of Minnesota, but instead got married, moved to northern Minnesota and began working in sales at a Holiday Inn. She moved back to the Twin Cities a few years later and worked with the Hyatt chain before joining the BCVB.
Carlson was recognized for being at the forefront of the hospitality industry, crafting and supporting policies and initiatives, while promoting the industry at the local, state, national and international levels.
She is a Minnesota Lodging Association board member, a past chair of the board of directors for the Destination Marketing Association International and has served on the DMAI Foundation Board and the Meeting Professionals International Foundation Board.
