How can I get involved with BYCI?
- Plan concerts and performance art venues.
- Schedule the hottest Bloomington bands.
- Operate expensive sound equipment.
Supporting BYCI
When you ask your kids what they're doing on any given weekend, you'd love their response to be: "I'm meeting friends at a safe, nearby, chemical- and smoke free place to hear some live music and sip a decaf mocha latté." Sound too good to be true? Well, something's brewing.
With your help, Central Grounds, an exciting, fun place to go after school, evenings and on weekends to socialize and enjoy coffee (or whatever), can soon be a reality. You may have heard about the successful Depot, a youth-run coffeehouse in Hopkins. Same idea. The Depot received most of its funding from parents, like you, who wanted their kids to have safe fun nearby.
The Bloomington coffeehouse needs your donation to fund operations, hire staff and operate a refreshment service. (In fact, the start-up budget is $270,000.) Bloomington civic, school and professional adults plus youth from Kennedy and Jefferson are helping to launch Central Grounds. The Bloomington City Council and School Board both unanimously passed resolutions in support of the youth coffeehouse concept.
On behalf of your youth, please help us fill up their free time with good fun!
